"Late night: Daddy gets home. Nicole excitedly tells him about her first swim ever in a big-kid pool. I am grateful that she's not telling me her swimming story. My precious poolside moments today:
I'm happy because I was actually there. Somewhere between the laundry and the peaches and the princess dress-ups, my daughter swam for the first time in her life. It was a few singular moments of a long day, but I was there, watching, clapping, encouraging from the edge of the pool. I was there to wrap her in a towel and kiss her cheek and tell her how proud I was.
And it didn't matter how I filled the rest of my day. The often monotonous and relentless nature of motherhood was worth it, if it meant I could be there for those precious poolside moments.
These are the moments that fill my life--and the days that define it."
After, we shared the biggest and best snow-cones ever! I wouldn't mind reliving that moment!
