Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments

The kids and I whipped up some homemade ornaments yesterday. They are so easy, and the best part - they make your house smell SO GOOD. The downside - they look and smell so good that kids (like Nathan) think that they are edible. One bite cures that craving! Here is what you need:

  • 1 cup of cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup of applesauce
  • 1/4 cup +2 Tbsp glue
  • cookie cutters
  • paint, ribbon, whatever you want to decorate the ornaments

Mix cinnamon, applesauce and glue. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth.

Roll out to about 3/4 - 1 inch thick and cut with cookie cutters.

Put a small hole in each ornament for the ribbon/string to fit through.
Let dry on a flat surface for 3-5 days.
Or if you are impatient like me, put in oven on warm for about an hour to speed the process.

Decorate

Hang and enjoy the spicy cinnamon aroma!

We made some about 3 years ago and used them the following year and they still smelled good!
