Rub-A-Dub-Dub Fun In The Tub

Baths were getting a little boring around here so we spiced it up with these four activities:

1. It's Raining, It's Pouring. I gathered some kitchen gadgets that I thought would be fun in the bath. The strainer was the biggest hit. Nathan loved making a rain storm in the bath!

2. Bath Bubbles. When you can't blow bubbles outside...never fear, just do it in the bath!

3. Frozen Friends. Find some small toys that can get wet. Put them in a paper cup with water and freeze. When frozen, peel the paper cup off of the iceberg and put it in the bath. Nathan loved watching the ice melt and helping his friends get out the the iceberg.

4. Bath Crayons...the grand finale and favorite activity! Here's what you need:
  •   1 bar of Ivory soap
  •   warm water
  •   food coloring
  •   cheese grater
  •   small cookie cutters

Grate the bar of soap. Add warm water and food coloring to the soap and stir until it forms a thick paste. Press into the cookie cutters and freeze until firm. When you want to use them just pop it into the bath and the crayon comes right out of the cookie cutter.

Then let the kids color all over the walls, tub, and themselves:

Don't worry, it wipes off great and leaves the water cool colors. The kids liked dropping their friends in the blue water and then they would try to find them.

No more boring baths for us!

We made bath paint using the same basic recipe. Although we "exploded" our bar of ivory soap in the microwave first. Made for a great experiment and we did not have to grate the soap. Here is the link http://www.housingaforest.com/fluffy-bathtub-paint/
